Hagerstown Suns Warm Up, Take Down Kannapolis Intimidators 7-4 - A, South Atlantic League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - HAGERSTOWN, MD – The Hagerstown Suns (21-21) won game three of their four game series against the Kannapolis Intimidators (20-22) on Sunday, May 18th by a final score of 7-4.

Brad Meyers (2-0) got the win for the Suns, pitching five and two thirds innings and allowing just two earned runs. Kyle Gunderson and Martin Beno pitched in relief for the Suns, completing the final three and one third innings, just two runs on five hits.

The Suns started the scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning, as both Stephen King and Jake Smolinski homered in the frame. King, with one out, hit a solo homer over the centerfield wall, and two batters later Smolinski’s blast drove in Mark Gildea to give the Suns a 3-0 lead.

Hagerstown added a single run in the bottom of the fifth inning as Tim Pahuta doubled to drive in Boomer Whiting, and three more in the bottom of the sixth innings. Gildea hit his first homer of the season with one out and nobody on in the sixth to extend the Suns lead.

Gildea, making his debut with the Suns, went three-for-three with the home run and two singles along with a walk.

For Kannapolis, Juan Moreno (0-1) started the game and took the loss, pitching four innings and allowing three earned runs on three hits.
