Mobile BayBears Lose to West Tenn Diamond Jaxx 5-4

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -

JACKSON, Tenn. - For the fourth time in this series, the BayBears lost a one-run game, 5-4 to the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx on Monday night at Pringles Park.

With two outs in the ninth, Guillermo Reyes reached on an error by second baseman Jeff Dominguez, who couldn't corral a pop up in the heavy winds. Reyes scored on a base hit by Yunesky Sanchez, who ended up at third after a Rusty Ryal single. With the BayBears (18-26) stirring up a bunch of racket down to their final out for the second game in a row, they again would come up short as Cesar Nicolas struck out against Mumba Rivera (S, 6).

With the BayBears trailing 2-0 in the second inning, it was Nicolas who put the BayBears on the board with his fourth home run of the season off Jaxx (28-16) starter Justin Thomas (2-4). Thomas gave up another run in the second on a Greg Thomson RBI single and one more in the third on a base hit by Ryal.

In the bottom of the fifth, West Tenn would claim the lead for good with four hits and a pair of sac flies by Johan Limonta and Ronnie Prettyman. In the eighth, the Jaxx picked up an insurance run as Prettyman scored on a single by Dominguez. Matt Torra (4-3) worked 5.2 innings for the BayBears and scattered a season-high 10 hits while fanning four.
