Altoona Curve Game Highlights and Box Score - AA, Eastern League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Harrisburg - 8  Altoona - 3  Box Score attached. - The Harrisburg Senators’ booming bats paved the way for an 8-3 win over the Altoona Curve on Thursday at Blair County Ballpark. The Senators hit three home runs and Bobby Brownlie turned in another solid start to cap a winning road trip. The win also finished Harrisburg’s first sweep of a three-game road set since June of 2006.

Harrisburg pounced on Altoona starter Corey Hamman in the second inning. Luke Montz drew a leadoff walk and Jorge Padilla followed by clobbering a home run to left to make it 2-0 Harrisburg. After a pair of outs, Ofilio Castro took a walk and pitcher Bobby Brownlie reached on an error. That brought up Justin Maxwell, who drilled a three-run shot to left to extend the Senators’ lead to 5-0.

Altoona’s Luis Cruz homered to left to lead off the bottom of the second, slicing the lead to 5-1.

Luke Montz ran the lead back to five runs when he led off the top of the fifth with a moonshot to left-center. Montz’s sixth home run of the year gave the Senators a 6-1 advantage.

The Curve scored single runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings, both on sacrifice flies, to cut it to 6-3.

Harrisburg tallied insurance runs in the top of the ninth when Roger Bernadina hammered a single off the glove of the first baseman. It caromed into right field, allowing a run to score and made it 7-3. The next batter, Montz, ripped an RBI single to left to balloon the lead to 8-3.

RHP Bobby Brownlie (4-0) stayed perfect on the year, dealing six innings and allowing two runs on four hits, three walks and striking out a pair. Josh Perrault, Beltran Perez and Mike Hinckley each worked an inning in relief. Hamman didn’t make it out of the second inning and fell to 0-4 for the Curve with the loss.

Harrisburg improved to 17-9 after a road trip that saw them go 5-2. Altoona dropped to 10-16.
