Potomac Nationals Defeat Frederick Keys 2-1 in Ten Innings
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:03AM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - The Keys bats failed Frederick for a straight day, as once again Keys pitching held the opponent to four hits but it was not enough as this time Potomac defeated Frederick 2-1 in ten innings to open their four-game series at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge, VA.
For Potomac the win marked their 12th in 13 games at home in 2008 and their ninth consecutive win in extra innings dating back to the first half of the 2007 season.
Keys starter Kyle Schmidt was outstanding in a no decision. Schmidt, who had not worked four full innings at anytime this year, went seven strong allowing one run on three hits. It was his second start of the year after making 23 with Delmarva in 2007.

Reliever Zach Clark made his debut for the Keys in 2008 after three outings with Frederick last season. He pitched a perfect eighth inning to preserve the tie.
Knotted up at 1-1 in the tenth inning, Nationals 3B Leonard Davis doubled to the alleyway in left-centerfield to leadoff the inning. Davis scored on RF Eduardo Baez sacrifice bunt that was thrown away by Ouellette to end the ballgame.
