West Tenn Diamond Jaxx Beat Carolina Mudcats 9-4 - AA, Southern League
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 09:22AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Zebulon, NC - The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx took over sole possession of second place with a 9-4 win over the Carolina Mudcats in the middle game of the five game series from Five County Stadium. The win keeps the Diamond Jaxx 1.5 games behind Huntsville in the Northern Division.

Justin Thomas picked up his first win of the season as the left-hander allowed two runs on three hits in six innings of work. Thomas (1-2) allowed three walks while striking out five. Marwin Vega picked up his first save of the season with three innings of relief. Adam Moore drove in three runs while Prentice Redman and Jon Nelson drove in two runs each to lead the Diamond Jaxx attack. Redman hit his fourth homer of the season in the win.
Mudcats starter Aaron Thompson was hit around for seven runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings of work, dropping his record to 0-3 on the season. Thompson walked six and struckout four. John Raynor homered and finished the night 2-4 with two RBI’s to lead the Mudcats offense. Manuel Mayorson chipped in with two hits to pace the Mudcats six hit attack.
Game four of the five game series is set for Friday night at 6:15 CDT. Righty Chris Jakubauskas (3-0 0.93) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Carolina will counter with right-hander Willie Glen (3-0 2.20).
