Lynchburg Hillcats Buried by Salem Avalanche 6-2 - Adv A, Carolina League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Lynchburg, VA  —  The Salem Avalanche, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Houston Astros, rode an eight-inning performance from Casey Hudspeth to victory for the second time this month Tuesday night in Lynchburg in a 6-2
decision at City Stadium.  Offensively, Cesar Quintero cracked a two-run
home run and Orlando Rosales notched his second three-hit game of the
year.

After a scoreless first inning in which the Hillcats left the bases
loaded, the Avs attacked lefty Daniel Moskos.  With two down and one on,
Orlando Rosales doubled to right-center to score Koby Clemens and give the
Avs a 1-zip lead.  Next, Cesar Quintero, on the seventh pitch of the
at-bat, blasted a two-run home run to right for a 3-0 edge.

In the fourth, Salem scooped another run up against the Lynchburg bullpen.
With one out, Jimmy Van Ostrand and Rosales smacked back-to-back doubles
to score a run.  Rosales, with that hit, became the team leader in doubles
with 13.

Salem’s final two runs came across in the seventh as Jordan Parraz’s
ground ball to second chased Jhon Florentino in and a Koby Clemens single
got Parraz home.

On the mound, Casey Hudspeth negotiated an eight-inning start for the
second time this season.  No other Salem pitcher has gone eight this
season.  Hudspeth, with the two-hit victory, upped his record to 3-3.
Chris Salamida threw the ninth for the Avs and allowed a pair of
inconsequential runs.
