New Orleans Zephyrs Allow Portland Beavers to Rally Late in 6-4 Loss

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Game Keys: A late rally of six runs in the final three innings delivered the host Portland Beavers a 6-4 win over the Zephyrs on Friday night at PGE Park.  The Z’s jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning when Z’s pitcher Ruddy Lugo drilled a RBI single to centerfield.  Portland answered in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly to tie the game.  Fernando Tatis drove home a pair of runs in the seventh inning to give New Orleans a 3-1 lead. The Z’s bullpen could not hold the game.  Willie Collazo entered the contest with a two run lead and suffered a blown save and his first loss of the season.  Former Zephyr Chip Ambres delivered a two-out two RBI single to give Portland a 4-3 lead.  Mike Adams earned the win in relief.  Portland added a pair of runs in the bottom of the 8th with the two run pinch hit blow from Craig Stansberry.  The Z’s rallied in the ninth with four walks and scored a run, but Jered Wells got the final out and his third save of the season.

Game Notes: The back to back losses by the Z's are their first since April 7th...  Ruddy Lugo’s RBI in the fifth was his first career RBI.  The Zephyrs’ roster reached full capacity today with the addition of outfielder Brady Clark, who cleared waivers earlier this week … Clark played in 7 games for the Mets, going 2x8 before being designated for assignment April 24th … Clark joins the Z’s in his hometown of Portland, where he attended Sunset High School…..
