Inland Empire 66ers Defeat Lancaster JetHawks 4-2 - Advanced A, California League

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – SAN BERNARDINO, CA – The JetHawks had their pitcher with the most wins on the mound Thursday night at Inland Empire and the 66ers had a winless pitcher who had struggled all season long.  Yet it was Inland Empire’s Alberto Bastardo who out-dueled Lancaster’s Adam Mills.  The JetHawks never scored after netting two in the opening inning as Inland Empire held on for a 4-2 win.

The game started off well.  Jason Place walked and Jorge Jimenez reached on an error.  Bobby Kielty, playing in his final rehabilitation game with the JetHawks, cashed both the runners in with a double to give Lancaster a 2-0 lead.

While Mills was strong in the first, he battled with Inland Empire over the next few innings.  The 66ers scored twice in the second inning to tie the game, then took over the lead with two runs in the fifth.  Blake Maxwell and Cody McAllister held Inland Empire off the scoreboard the rest of the way, but the JetHawks offense failed to materialize.

Lancaster batters were held to just five hits and they struck out 14 times, their most in a non extra-innings game this season.  Josh Reddick had three of the JetHawks hits.  Daniel Nava saw his 14 game hit streak come to an end.
