this season, Bryan Augenstein has allowed two earned runs
in 24.1 innings of work, including 8.1 innings of South
Bend’s 6-1 victory over the ‘Caps on Friday. The Whitecaps
have lost five games in a row.

one run in eight innings and earned a victory at South Bend

Tomas in the third then retired 17 batters in a row before
Tomas singled again with two out in the eighth.
Wells has homered in back-to-back games for the second
time this season and leads the Whitecaps with nine long
balls.
The only time West Michigan had more than one runner
on base was following consecutive one out singles by Justin
Henry and Jordan Newton in the bottom of the ninth.
Jon Kibler suffered the loss for the Whitecaps to snap a
four start win streak and fell to 5-2. He allowed two runs on
three hits in the second inning as South Bend took a 2-1 lead
on an RBI single by Chance Wheeless.
The Silver Hawks added single runs off Kibler in the
sixth and eighth as Kibler went 7.1 innings with four runs
allowed on six hits with no walks and eight strikeouts.
Reliever Paul Nardozzi gave up a two-run homer to
Konrad Schmidt in the top of the ninth.
