Harrisburg Senators Lose to Reading Phillies 6-3 - AA, Eastern League

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Harrisburg - The Harrisburg Senators clawed their way back into the game Saturday night, bringing the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth, but fell just short against the Reading Phillies, 6-3. The loss snapped Harrisburg’s four-game winning streak.

The Phillies jumped ahead with single runs in each of the first three innings. Reading tacked on three more in the sixth inning as Gookie Dawkins doubled down the left-field line to plate a run and make it 4-0. Two batters later, Javon Moran ripped a two-run single into left to extend the lead to 6-0.

The Senators got on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Luke Montz blooped a double to right and scored on Ofilio Castro’s two-out RBI single.

In the seventh, Harrisburg cut further into the deficit on a two-out, two-run single by Montz to slice it to 6-3.

Harrisburg brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth against Reading closer Pat Overholt. Justin Maxwell was hit by a pitch with one out and Mike Daniel walked to bring up Montz. He clubbed a fly ball to the fence in right, but Jeremy Slayden had just enough room to make the catch for the final out.

Reading starter Antonio Bastardo won his Double-A debut, going 5.2 innings. He allowed a run on five hits and three walks while striking out four. Josh Hall took the loss to drop to 1-4. Overholt closed out his seventh save of the year.

The Senators fell to 18-10. The R-Phils improved to 14-14.
