MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Peoria - 4  South Bend - 3  Box score attached. - South Bend , IN The Peoria Chiefs scored two runs early and held on for a 4-3 win over the South Bend Silver Hawks Saturday afternoon. Dustin Sasser closed out South Bend in order in the ninth to preserve the win and move the Chiefs to 10-18 on the season.

For the second game in a row, the Chiefs scored first and took a second inning lead. Dylan Johnston led off the frame with a rocket-double off the wall in left field. He advanced to third when Cliff Andersen grounded out and scored on a hard-hit groundout off the bat of Marwin Gonzalez. Silver Hawks starter Bryan Augenstein then retired Elvis Lara to end the inning with the Chiefs on top 1-0.

The Chiefs took advantage of the league’s worst defensive team in the fourth inning to add to their lead. Marquez Smith started the inning with a popup to left that three fielders watched fall between them for a double. After a pair of groundouts, Gonzalez drove home Smith with a solid double to left. South Bend then committed an error to keep the inning going, but Augenstein got Leon Johnson to bounce out and end the inning.
