Greensboro Grasshoppers Defeat Hagerstown Suns 11-5 - A, South Atlantic League

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – HAGERSTOWN, MD – The Greensboro Grasshoppers (15-14) hit the ball all over Municipal stadium to take down the Hagerstown Suns (15-15) 11-5.  Hoppers starter Colby Miller (1-5) picked up his first win of the year behind six strong innings of work.

Greensboro scored early and often with at least one run in all but three of the nine innings.

In the top of the first Danny Garcia homered to deep right field to start the scoring.  It was the second home run of the season for Garcia, who ended the game with three RBI on the day.

The Grasshoppers added two more runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back.  Greensboro scored at least one run in six different innings, including two runs in the fourth, fifth and eighth innings.

Colten Willems (2-3) started the game for Hagerstown, and lasted just four innings, allowing six earned runs on nine hits.  Willems was saddled with the loss.

Offensively, the Suns got good contributions from the top three hitters in the line-up, but Hagerstown could not make up the early deficit.

First baseman Bill Rhinehart had two hits, including a three-run home run in the fifth inning that drove in Steven Souza and Jake Smolinski.  The homer was Rhinehart’s fourth of the season.

Colby Miller (1-5) earned his first win of the season for Greensboro, allowing four earned runs in five innings of work.
