Washington Nationals Farm Team News - MLB/MiLB

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - BURLINGTON, VT - A month into the 2008 season, the four Washington Nationals Minor League teams are a combined 69-49, good for the fourth-best record among the 30 Major League baseball organizations.

The Nationals Minor League winning percentage of .585 on May 4th trails only the Texas Rangers (78-39, .667), New York Yankees (80-42, .656) and the Oakland Athletics (73-45, .619) for the best record.

Triple-A Columbus is off to a 16-15 in the International League with the help of former Vermont pitchers Jason Bergmann and Chris Schroder, both of whom have spent time this season with Washington. Bergmann is 2-2 with a 3.68 ERA in four starts for the Clippers, while Schroder is 2-0 with two saves and a 0.79 ERA in eight games.

Double-A Harrisburg leads the Southern Division of the Eastern League with a 19-10 record. Former Vermont catcher Luke Montz is batting .364 (28-for-77) with 14 runs, seven homers and 31 RBI for the Senators, while outfielder Mike Daniel is hitting .298 (31-for-104) with 13 runs, two homers and six RBI.

High Single-A Potomac is in first-place with a 19-9 record to lead the Northern Division of the Carolina League. After beginning the season on the disabled list, former Vermont infielder Leonard Davis is batting .319 (15-for-47) with 10 runs, five homers and 10 RBI for the Nats, while 2007 Lake Monster pitchers Adrian Alaniz (2-0, 2.08 ERA) and Jordan Zimmermann (3-1, 1.65 ERA).

Low Single-A Hagerstown is 15-15 in the South Atlantic League with the help of former Lake Monster first baseman Bill Rhinehart and pitcher Terrence Engles. Rhinehart is hitting .343 (37-for-108) with 20 runs, eight doubles, four homers and 27 RBI, while Engles was 3-0 with a 1.89 ERA in six games for the Suns before being promoted to Potomac.
