Louisville Bats Top Norfolk Tides 7-2 - AAA, IL

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Norfolk -  The Louisville Bats plated four second inning runs, topping the Norfolk Tides 7-2 Tuesday night from Harbor Park.

The Bats batted around in the decisive second frame, taking advantage of some wildness from Norfolk starter Chris Waters (0-1). Making his 2008 Tides debut, Waters surrendered a leadoff homer to Jolbert Cabrera, then yielded three walks and a hit batter in the frame to help the Bats push across four runs.

Waters allowed five runs on seven hits and five walks in five innings of work, striking out two. The 27-year-old, who led the Eastern League with five wins and a 1.69 ERA at the time of his promotion, threw 99 pitches - 50 for strikes.

Louisville put their leadoff batter on base in eight of nine innings, and pounded out 13 hits in the win.

Norfolk's offense was once again led by Luis Terrero and Oscar Salazar, who combined for five of the Tides six hits. Terrero finished with three hits and a solo home run, upping his average to a team-best .337, while Salazar went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Tom Shearn (5-1) earned the win for Louisville, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out five.
