Toledo Mud Hens First Team to Lose Twice to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in 5-1 Loss

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – The Hens jumped out in front in the bottom of the second when RF Jackson Melian hit his second home run of the season. This would prove to be the only offensive production for Toledo on the night.

With two outs in the top of the fifth, DH Mike Cervenak singled to center to tie the game at one apiece. Lehigh Valley’s offense didn’t end there as 1B Andy Tracy followed up with a 3-run home run. The IronPigs would score their final run in the sixth with a solo-shot to right by RF T.J. Bohn.
RHP Yorman Bazardo (1-1) started for the Hens and picked up the loss. He went five innings while giving up four earned runs off of seven hits, three walks. LHP Brian Mazone (4-3) threw 7.2 innings and only gave up one earned run. Mazone is credited for four of the IronPig’s five total wins. The Mud Hens are the only team to lose two games to Lehigh Valley.

Around the Horn
Out of the Home Slump -- Prior to Tuesday night, OF Jackson Melian had only two hits in 27 at-bats at home. Melian was 3 for 4 with a HR on Tuesday.
Streaking… and Stopping -- With his single in the fourth, OF Brent Clevlen extended his on-base streak to 14 games. 1B Jeff Larish had a ten game at-home hitting streak end, but reached base twice on two walks. DH Erick Almonte’s five game hit streak ended as he went hitless against the IronPigs.
Going Yard -- The Hens homered again Tuesday against Lehigh Valley. Toledo’s home run total is now 49 on the season. Scranton/WB is in second with 29.
Out In Front -- The Hens have held the top spot in the IL West since April 26. This is the second time they have been in first this season, and the longest stretch of the year. The Hens were in first for nine days from April 3-11.
