Trenton Thunder Shake Up Erie SeaWolves, Take Win 5-2 - AA, Eastern League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - The SeaWolves dropped their second straight game to the Trenton Thunder on Tuesday night to 5-2. The loss drops the SeaWolves to a game under .500 for only the second time this season at 15-16.

Trenton broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth against Erie starter Andrew Kown. Cody Ehlers led off the inning and drew a walk. With one out, P.J. Pilittere walked ot put a pair on for Chris Malec. Malec connected on a single, scoring Ehlers, giving Trenton a 1-0 lead.

Trenton would add a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to go ahead 3-0. Austin Jackson led off with a walk he scored on a triple by Colin Curtis. Curtis would score on a sacrifice fly by Ehlers for the second run of the inning.

In the top of the seventh, Malec led off and connected on his third home run of the season against reliever Marcelo Perez. The solo shot put the Thunder ahead 4-0. Trenton would add a fifth run in the eighth when Pilittere doubled home Curtis for a 5-0 advantage.

The SeaWolves finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth when Dusty Ryan led off and connected on his fifth home run of the season. The hit for Ryan was his second of the game and it pulled the ‘Wolves to within in four runs at 5-1.

The ‘Wolves would threaten in the bottom of the ninth against reliever J.B. Cox. Cox retired the first two of the inning and got Wilkin Ramirez, who had a pair of hits in the game, to strikeout, but on a wild pitch, Ramirez was able to reach first to keep the game alive. Ramirez moved to second on defensive indifference with Deik Scram at the plate. Scram singled home Ramirez to make it a three-run game at 5-2. Danny Worth and Ryan both drew two-out walks to load the bases, brining Jeff Frazier to the plate. Frazier grounded out to end the game.

Kown (2-3) took the loss for the SeaWolves. He held the Thunder hitless through three and scoreless through four before giving up a run in the fifth. He went six innings, allowing three runs on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
