Harrisburg Senators Game Highlights and Box Score for 5/8/08 - AA, Eastern League
Friday, May 9, 2008 at 11:33AM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Connecticut - 9 Harrisburg - 5 Box Score attached. - HARRISBURG, PA - A road-trip that started with a loss, making it 8 straight ended with a 9-5 win over the Senators and an impressive 5-2 record while obtaining 3 straight series victories for the Defenders.
The Senators got on the board first with an RBI double by Roger Bernadina down the left field line to drive in Mike Daniels who leadoff with a single. The Defenders would answer with an RBI single from Nestor Rojas (1) up the middle to drive in Eddy Martinez-Esteve who leadoff with a double and tied the game at 2 apiece. Defenders starter Dave McKae would deal a walk to start the inning off to Ofilio Castro and that would come back to haunt him as Castro would score on an RBI single from Daniels to give Harrisburg the 2-1 advantage again.
Coming right back in the third was Connecticut as Antoan Richardson delivered a single then was bumped over to second on a Sosa walk. Richardson would steal third (9) and Martinez-Esteve drove him in with an RBI single (12) to tie the game again at 2.
The Defenders added two runs in the 5th inning. Richardson hit a one out triple and Sosa drove him in with an RBI double (19). Sosa would get nabbed trying to steal third on a ball in the dirt. Travis Ishikawa with the bases cleared took flight over the right field wall for a solo homerun (3) for a 4-2 Defenders lead.
Connecticut wouldn’t stop there adding 3 runs in the 7th, getting a leadoff double from Kyle Haines, Richardson hit by a pitch then Carlos Sosa was feeling friendly so decided to bring everyone home with a 3 run homer (4) over the left center field wall to give CT the 7 to 2 advantage.
The Defs added 2 more in the 9th on a pair of RBI singles from Martinez-Esteve (4-5, 2RBI, R) and Rosario, driving in Richardson who walked and Sosa who singled.
The Sens would tack on 2 more in the ninth, capped off on a two run shot by Daniel’s to make the score 9-5.
Dave McKae (3-1) pitched well hurling 6 innings, spreading out 7 hits and giving up 2 runs for his third win of the year. Shairon Martis started out well but the fifth inning he starting getting touched up but got through it. Martis (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season giving up 4 runs off of 9 hits.
