Los Angeles Dodgers Minor League Report - MLB/MiLB

Pacific Coast League Pacific Southern Division

17-16, 3rd Place , 1.0 Game Back

ON A TERRY : INF Terry Tiffee is riding a 14-game hitting streak, batting .429 (27-for-63) with 13 RBI…the switch hitter leads the Pacific Coast League with a .452 average, 61 hits, and 19 doubles…he ranks third in the league with a .493 on-base percentage and 31 runs scored, and is tied for third with 29 RBI…the 29-year-old also ranks fifth with a .659 slugging percentage…Tiffee, a switch hitter who is batting .470 (47-for-100) against right-handers and .400 (14-for-35) against left-handers, was signed by the Dodgers as a minor league free agent in November 2007.

HAPPY MAZA DAY! : INF Luis Maza ranks third in the Pacific Coast League with a .402 average and fourth with a .471 on-base percentage…the 27-year-old had a 19-game hitting streak April 11-Saturday, when he batted .447 (38-for-85), before going 0-for-4 Monday at Round Rock (Astros)…he signed with the Dodgers as a minor league free agent in February, and appeared in seven games with the Dodgers during Spring Training.

TICKLE MY YHENCY : RHP Yhency Brazoban has allowed one run in 4.0 innings in three appearances since being promoted from Double-A Jacksonville…he has struck out four and walked two in that span.

THE DWAYNE MAN : RHP Dwayne Pollock has allowed just one run in his last 18.1 innings (eight games) beginning April 11 since giving up five runs (four earned) in 7.0 innings in his first two appearances…the 27-year-old, who was acquired by the Dodgers from the White Sox in May 2007, is 2-0 with one save and a 1.78 ERA in 10 games overall…he has walked just one batter in his 25.1 innings, and is limiting the opposition to a .196 batting average.

TRUE KOPLOVE : RHP Mike Koplove had tossed 17.1 consecutive scoreless innings before giving up an unearned run last night vs. Memphis (Cardinals)…the University of Delaware product has still allowed only one earned run all season, coming in his first outing April 4 vs. Salt Lake (Angels)…the 31-year-old has no record, two saves, and a 0.47 ERA in 12 games overall.

Southern League South Division

15-18, Tied for 2nd Place , 2.0 Games Back

MAYDAY! : C Lucas May has a team-best 19 RBI and is tied for the team lead with five home runs…the 23-year-old, who was selected by Los Angeles in the eighth round of the 2003 draft, is hitting .371 (13-for-35) with five doubles, two homers, and 11 RBI in his last nine games to raise his average to .333 from .306.

JAMES TAYLOR MADE : OF James Tomlin has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, batting .421 (16-for-38) to raise his average to .333 from .256…the 25-year-old, who is a 2000 graduate of St. Bernard Catholic High School in Playa Del Ray, was re-signed by the Dodgers as a minor league free agent in October 2007.

HE KERCAME, HE KERSHAW, HE KERCONQUERED : LHP Clayton Kershaw is 0-3 with a 1.08 ERA in seven games (six starts)…he made his first relief appearance last night vs. Carolina (Marlins), striking out one in a perfect inning…the 20-year-old, whom the Dodgers selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2006 draft, hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last 19.1 innings of work (four games)…he has posted 37 strikeouts in 33.1 innings overall, and the opposition is batting just .192 against him.

Single-A Inland Empire 66ers

California League South Division

11-22, 5th Place , 6.0 Games Back

CATCH THIS : C Carlos Santana is tied for eighth in the California League with 23 RBI…the 22-year-old is hitting .304 with 10 doubles and a homer in 29 games overall…the switch hitter is batting .364 (12-for-33) against left-handers and .275 (19-for-69) against right-handers…the fourth-year pro, who was signed as a non-drafted free agent in August 2004, has more walks (18) than strikeouts (16).

NEXT OF ADKINS : LHP James Adkins took the loss last night at Rancho Cucamonga (Angels) despite allowing only two runs and striking out seven in 6.0 innings, and is now 2-2 with a 3.82 ERA in seven starts…the 39th overall selection of the 2007 draft has 33 strikeouts in 33.0 innings, and is holding left-handed batters to a .233 average (10-for-43)...the 22-year-old was drafted out of the University of Tennessee.

OF KOSS : RHP Paul Koss has a 1.42 ERA in 12 appearances…the Dodgers’ 11th-round selection of the 2007 draft is limiting opposing hitters to .200 average, including a .190 mark (8-for-42) by right-handed hitters…the 22-year-old played his college ball at the University of Southern California from 2004-07, finishing with 36 career saves to rank second on the school’s all-time list.

THE FRANCISCO TREAT : RHP Francisco Felix struck out four in 2.0 scoreless innings last night at Rancho Cucamonga, and now has 28 strikeouts in 21.2 innings, an average of 11.6 punchouts per 9 innings…the 24-year-old native of Culiacan, Mexico is 1-2 with one save and a 3.32 ERA in 10 games overall.

Single-A Great Lakes Loons

Midwest League Eastern Division

14-17, 4th Place , 4.5 Game Back

CAN’T SILENCE THIS LAMBO : OF Andrew Lambo leads the Loons with 22 RBI despite driving in only four runs in his last 13 games…the left-handed hitter is batting .289 (11-for-38) against left-handers…the Dodgers’ fourth-round pick of the 2007 draft is hitting .262 with nine doubles and four homers in 29 games overall.

JOHNSON & JOHNSON : RHP Steve Johnson tossed 5.0 scoreless innings for the win Monday vs. Wisconsin (Mariners), and is now 3-1 with a 2.12 ERA in six starts…the 21-year-old, who was selected by the Dodgers in the 13th round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, has 28 strikeouts in 29.2 innings of work, and is limiting the opposition to a .206 average.

SARTOR HOUSE RULES : RHP Matthew Sartor is 2-1 with a save and a 1.53 ERA in eight appearances…the Irving (TX) High School grad, who signed with the Dodgers as a non-drafted free agent in July 2007, had tossed 10.0 straight scoreless innings before giving up a run in his final inning of work Sunday vs. Wisconsin…the 23-year-old has 27 strikeouts in his 17.2 innings, an average of 13.8 punchouts per 9 innings.

MIGUEL BEING MIGUEL : RHP Miguel Ramirez has tossed 12.1 consecutive scoreless innings (11 games) to start the season…the 24-year-old, who was signed by Los Angeles as a non-drafted free agent in 2002, has six saves and 11 strikeouts.
