Charlotte Knights Slip Past the Norfolk Tides in 3-2 Win, Clayton Richard Makes AAA Debut

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – June 12, 2008 - Charlotte lefty Clayton Richard tossed seven strong innings, pitching the Knights to a 3-2 win over the Tides Thursday night from Harbor Park.

Richard (1-0) yielded two runs on four hits in seven innings of work as he picked up the win in his Triple-A debut. He allowed both runs and three of his four hits in the first frame, but settled down to retire 17 straight batters from the first through seventh inning.
Ehren Wassermann then kept the Tides off the board over the final two innings to record his seventh save of the season.
Norfolk was led at the plate by Mike Costanzo, who finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Scott Moore also added an RBI single in the game, and he has now hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games.
Craig Anderson (1-4) took the tough-luck loss, despite not allowing an earned run in 5.2 innings of work. The southpaw was touched up for two unearned runs in the first inning and one more in the third as the Tides dropped their third straight game to open an eight-game homestand.
