Sunday, June 22, 2008 at 09:27AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Harrisburg - The Harrisburg Senators sent the SeaWolves to their third straight loss with a 4-3 win over the Howlers on Saturday night at Commerce Bank Park.
The Senators struck first in the bottom of the first inning against Erie starter Danny Christensen. Mike Daniel drew a leadoff walk and he was doubled home by Ofilio Castro for a 1-0 lead.
Harrisburg added to the lead in the bottom of the second. Seth Bynum and Andrew Lefave drew back-to-back walks to start the inning. A sacrifice bunt by Devin Ivany moved the runners into scoring position. With two outs, Daniel singled home both Bynum and Ivany for a 3-0 lead.
The Sens would go ahead 4-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Garrett Guzman reached on a fielder’s choice and would later score on a ground ball by Bynum.
The ‘Wolves would get on the board against Harrisburg starter Mike Hinckley in the top of the fourth inning. Ryan Roberson stepped in with one out and he hammered a solo home run over the wall in right field. The opposite field shot was his 10th of the season and it was the first Erie hit of the game to make it a 4-1 game.
The ‘Wolves again would cut into the Harrisburg lead in the top of the fifth. Kody Kirkland laced a one-out single to right. With two outs, Will Rhymes singled to put runners on first and second for Danny Worth. Worth eked a double down the left field line, plating both Kirkland and Rhymes, making it a one-run game at 4-3 in favor of the Sens.
The score of 4-3 would be the closest Erie would get in the game. The ‘Wolves had the tying run aboard in each of the final four innings of the game but could not convert on the clutch hit. They had first and third with no outs in the seventh and the tying run at second in the ninth and could not bring home the game tying run.
Christensen (4-5) settled down after the first three innings and went seven, allowing four runs on seven hits with four walks and four strikeouts. The loss for Christensen was his first since May 7.
