●          All-Star Performance: The Carolina All-Stars beat the California All-Stars 3-1 in what was a tight and close game… 3B NIUMAN ROMERO made the most of his appearance as he drew a walk and scored a run… RHP JOSH TOMLIN tossed a shutout inning while striking out one… RHP LUIS PERDOMO earned the save as he tossed 0.1 innings while striking out one.
 
●          Counting Crowe: AA Akron Aeros LF TREVOR CROWE was named Bank of America Eastern League Player of the Week… He hit .464 (13-28) with 2HR, 2-2B, 9RS and 8RBI in six games for the Aeros… During the week Crowe produced four consecutive multi-hit games and he has scored a run in his last 11 games….  His 7-game hitting streak came to an end last night as he batted .500 (17-34) with 11RS, 4-2B, 2HR and 10RBI… During the streak Crowe has raised his batting average from .234 to .298… In 35 games with Akron Crowe is batting .292 (42-144) with 32RS, 12-2B, 3B, 2HR, 18RBI and 7SB.
 
●          Sweet Smith: A-Advanced Kinston’s RHP CARLTON SMITH was named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week(6/16-6/22)… He made two starts during the week going 1-0 while posting a 0.75ERA (12.0IP, 8H, R/ER, BB, 6K)… He has been consistent for the K-Tribe as he has gone 5-4 in 15 games owning a 3.87ERA (88.1IP, 75H, 45R/38ER, 7HR, 18BB, 43K).
 
●          Awesome Asdrubal: Since returning to Buffalo SS ASDRUBAL CABRERA has been tearing it up on the field batting .456 (26-57) with 11RS, 3-2B, HR, 5RBI and 2SB in 14 games with the Bisons… He has hit safely in his last 7-games batting .536 (15-28) with 6RS and 4RBI.
 
●          Nothing But Contact: Lake County’s OF ROMAN PENA continues to make solid contact at the plate as he has hit safely in his last 13-games batting .306 (15-49) with 4RS, 2-2B, HR and 3RBI… He is ranked 8th in the South Atlantic League with a .309 (83-269)… In 72 games with the Captains he has 48RS, 20-2B, 2-3B, 6HR and 49RBI.

Game One: Bowie 5, @Akron 0… Bowie starting RHP Jason Berken was nothing but dominate in the first game of the doubleheader as the tossed a complete game (7.0IP, 2BB, 7K) shutout holding Akron hitters to just two hits… RF BRONSON SARDINHA broke through going 1-3… CF JOSE CONSTANZA was 1-2 in the contest… RHP STEVEN WRIGHT suffered the loss as he tossed 5.0 innings yielding 5R/4ER on eight hits allowing a HR while striking out five.
Game Two: Bowie 7, @Akron 1… Akron’s offense just wasn’t clicking last night as Bowie held them to just one run on seven hits in the 2nd game of the contest and are now within 3.5 games of the Aeros for 1st place of the Southern Division… CA DAMASO ESPINO(2-3) drove in the only Akron run with a single to center in the bottom of the 4th… 2B BRANDON PINCKNEY broke through offensively as he was 2-3 with a 2B… 3B WES HODGES was 1-3 with a RS and a BB on the night… RHP J.D. MARTIN tossed 2.1 solid innings of relief allowing a R on two hits while striking out two but it was too little too late for the Aeros.
