Hagerstown Suns Defeat Lakewood BlueClaws 5-1 - A, South Atlantic League
Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 10:45AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – HAGERSTOWN, MD – The Hagerstown Suns (5-2) took the rubber match of their series with the Lakewood BlueClaws (3-4) by winning the finale 5-1. The Suns used an excellent outing from starter Cole Kimball (3-3) to get the win. Kimball retired the first ten BlueClaws batters en route to a seven inning, one run performance.
The Suns struck first with a run in the fourth inning. Shortstop Dan Lyons reached on an infield single and advance to second on a throwing error. Left fielder Aaron Seuss brought Lyons around on a double to the gap in right-centerfield.

The Suns tacked on one more in the sixth inning. Right fielder Michael Burgess doubled in Seuss to give Hagerstown a 2-0 lead.
Those were the only two runs Lakewood starter Jacob Diekman (1-5) gave up in the loss.
Lakewood got their only run in the top of the seventh inning. First baseman Michael Durant crushed a Kimball offering and sent it over the scoreboard in left field. Durant leads the BlueClaws with 12 home runs.
After Lakewood closed the gap in the top of the seventh, Hagerstown opened it back up in the bottom half of the frame. Mark Gildea lined a one-out double down the left field line. Second baseman Valerio Heredia followed that up with a walk, before Boomer Whiting doubled down the line to bring home both Gildea and Heredia. Whiting then came home as Lyons ripped a double of his own off the left field wall.
Kyle Gunderson worked two innings of scoreless relief for the Suns.
