Harrisburg Senators Defeat Reading Phillies 6-2 - AA, Eastern League
Friday, June 27, 2008 at 10:44AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Reading, PA -- The Harrisburg Senators executed five double plays, Mike Hinckley pitched into the sixth inning, and Marco Yepez delivered a three-run double in a 6-2 victory over the Phillies, who lost for the 15th time in their last 20 home games.
The Senators (44-33) improved to 12-4 against the Phillies (30-47).
Phillies pitching walked seven -- they lead the league with 335 -- and hit two batters.
Unofficial records show it took 13 innings for the Phillies to hit into five double plays previously, on May 29, 2003, in a 3-2 victory at Erie.
The loss went to Fabio Castro (4-1). Hinckley (4-2), who allowed a run and seven hits in 5.2 innings, got the win.
Jeremy Slayden was 3-for-3 and was on base in all four at-bats for the Phillies. Brad Harman was 2-for-4.
FUTURES STARS: Four Phillies -- pitcher Carlos Carrasco, catcher Lou Marson, shortstop Jason Donald and center fielder Greg Golson -- were named Thursday to the Major League Baseball Futures Game, which will be played Sunday, July 13, at Yankee Stadium.
ADVERTISEMENTIt was the first time more than one Phillie was named to play in the prestigious showcase game. (The Phillies are home against the Akron Aeros July 13.)
Marson, Donald and Golson were named to their first Futures Game. Carrasco competed the last two years, giving up three hits and a walk in 1.1 innings. He struck out two. Carrasco leads the Eastern League with 89 strikeouts.
