Sacramento River Cats Pound Portland Beavers 9-2 - AAA, Pacific Coast League
Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 08:54AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Sacramento - The River Cats pounded out 12 hits on their way to a 9-2 victory over Portland in front of 10,789 fans at Raley Field on Friday night. The first-place River Cats (39-22) improve to 17 games over the .500 mark and have now won seven of their last 10 games and 21 of their last 29 games. Sacramento has won five consecutive games vs. Portland (29-30) and are 8-2 on the season against the Beavers.
Chris Gissell, primarily a reliever for Sacramento, threw 4.0 no-hit, shutout innings in the start and struck out six Portland batters. Lenny DiNardo earned the win, throwing 3.0 innings in relief, allowing one run on two hits. It was the 12th time this season the River Cats have drawn 10,000-plus fans to Raley Field. Third baseman Jeff Baisley was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and Casey Rogowski hit a fourth-inning solo home run. The River Cats are now 18-8 at home this season.
