Rancho Cucamonga Quakes Shake a Win Out, Beat Inland Empire 66ers 8-6 - Adv A, California League
Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 11:03AM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - The 66ers didn’t waste much time jumping out early against Quakes starter Amalio Diaz. Trayvon Robinson led off the game with a home run and after Justin Fuller singled, Austin Gallagher doubled to drive in Fuller. Inland Empire added an unearned run as Ryan Mount dropped a pop up to allow Gallagher to score to take a 3-0 lead after one inning.
Inland Empire came back to add another run in the third on an RBI double by Jaime Pedroza to swell the lead to 4-0.
Rancho cut the lead in half in the bottom of the third with two outs as PJ Phillips singled and Anthony Norman clubbed his 11th home run of the season to make the score 4-2 after three innings.

The Quakes exploded in the fifth inning against starter Tim Sexton as Rancho got three straight singles from Larry Infante, Flint Wipke and Cliff Remole to lead off the innings. Phillips then came up and doubled to right center to score all three runners to take a 5-4 lead. With Phillips at third after an error on his double, Norman grounded out to score Phillips and give the Quakes a 6-4 edge. With two outs, Hank Conger and Mark Trumbo got back to back hits and Abel Nieves doubled to left to score both runners to take an 8-4 lead.
Rancho never looked back as the got some defensive help in the 8th as they turned their first triple play since May 14, 2004 against the same 66ers. The Quakes Marco Albano allowed two runs in the 9th on a misplayed ball in left by Infante, but with two outs, Ryan Aldridge entered and struck out Gallagher to end the game with an 8-6 Quakes win.
