McDonald left after five innings after allowing three runs, one earned run, on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts.
Jacksonville’s offense scored in the seventh inning against Carolina reliever Jarrett Santos as Russell Mitchell and Shane Justis recorded back-to-back doubles to start the frame, Justis’ scoring Mitchell for a 3-1 score.
Carolina relievers Jeff Gogal and Carlos Martinez each pitched an inning to finish the game in favor of the Mudcats.
