Corpus Christi Hooks Top Frisco RoughRiders 7-5 - AA, Texas League

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - CORPUS CHRISTI -- Ole Sheldon smacked a first-inning grand slam enroute to a six-RBI performance as Corpus Christi downed Frisco 7-5 Sunday night at Whataburger Field before 6,585.

The Hooks, who took three of four from Frisco this weekend, improved to 8-14 in the second half of Texas League play. The RoughRiders are 15-7.

Frisco starter Trey Hodges (7-7) gave up a lead-off single to Drew Sutton and issued walks to Jarred Ball and Chris Johnson before Sheldon's no-doubter to left field.

Sheldon tagged Hodges again with a solo shot to open the fifth as the Hooks built a 5-3 lead and his sixth-inning sacrifice fly off Alfredo Gonzalez plated Ball for Corpus Christi's final run.

Sheldon's six runs batted in tied a franchise mark established by Mark Saccomanno during the 2005 season.

An RBI single by Johnson in the sixth accounted for the Hooks' other run.

Ball extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a two-out double in the fourth.

Casey Hudspeth, who made his Texas League debut after compiling a 4-7 record at High-A Salem, earned his first victory as a Hook. He exited after five frames and three runs, three hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Ryan McKeller, Chris Blazek and Evan Englebrook combined to cover the final four. Englebrook earned his first save of the season with 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Dustin Majewski, Adam Fox, Steve Murphy, Timothy Gradoville and Corey Ragsdale collected RBIs for Frisco.

The Hooks begin a four-game series at Midland with Chance Douglass (4-7) taking the ball Monday at 7 p.m.
