Deolis Guerra Shines as Fort Myers Miracle Blank Tampa Yankees 4-0 - Advanced A, Florida State League

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - FORT MYERS, F.L. – Behind the complete game effort of 19-year-old Deolis Guerra, the Fort Myers Miracle found cruised to 4-0 shutout over the Tampa Yankees on Tuesday night at Hammond Stadium. Guerra scattered just three hits on Tuesday in the win, marking the fourth-straight victory for the Miracle

Guerra, who came over to the Minnesota Twins organization in February in the Johan Santana trade, certainly made that move look good as he sat down a span of 19 in a row between a first inning single by James Cooper and a one-out single by Andres Perez in the seventh. Tuesday night marked the first career shutout of Guerra's brief two and a half years.

Offensively, the Miracle wasted little time in jumping on the scoreboard striking for a run in the bottom of the first. Yancarlos Ortiz and Steve Singleton drew back-to-back one-out walks, before Wilson Ramos collected his first of two hits on the night with a single to center. Juan Portes then sent a fly ball to right, deep enough to score Ortiz from third, for an RBI and a 1-0 Miracle lead.

Portes was again in on the action in a two-run third as Ramos reached with a one-out single and promptly plated on Portes' RBI-double to right. Portes would later score in the inning on Eli Tintor's two-out single to left for a three-run lead. The final ADVERTISEMENT run of the night scored on a bases loaded hit by pitch to Ortiz in the bottom half of the eighth.

LHP Tyler Robertson (4-2, 2.93) will look to duplicate Guerra's outing as the southpaw with throw the first pitch in the middle game of the series at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday. RHP Jason Stephens (2-0, 0.82) will counter Robertson on a "Buffet on the Berm" and Miracle "Kids Club" Wednesday night.
