Rancho Cucamonga Quakes Rally After Early Deficit Against Inland Empire 66ers for 6-3 Win

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Rancho Cucamonga, CA- Inland Empire took an early 2-0 first inning lead against Amalio Diaz and the Quakes on a two-run homer to center field by Carlos Santana. Santana, who leads the California League with 74 RBI’s, went 2-for-4 with two RBI’s on the night.

It didn’t take long for the Quakes to answer as they got one run back in the bottom of the first inning on a run scoring triple by Wil Ortiz off of Inland Empire starter Tim Sexton. Rancho had runners on first and third with two outs after Ortiz’s triple but couldn’t push any more runs across the plate in the inning.

Amalio Diaz had retired ten Inland Empire batters in a row until Justin Fuller’s fifth inning lead-off triple. Fuller then came into score on a wild pitch by Diaz building the 66ers lead to 3-1.

Rancho narrowed the Sixers lead to 3-2 in the fifth, but the Quakes once again had the tying run on third base and could not get the clutch hit that they needed. The Quakes one run in the inning came on a Peter Bourjos triple, which scored Anderson Rosario.
