MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Kannapolis, NC – The Intimidators (14-14) lost their sixth straight game and were swept in the four-game series against Charleston (14-13) with a 3-1 loss in the series finale. The losing streak ties the longest this season for Kannapolis. The Intimidators dropped six in a row from May 30th to June 4th in the first half.
The Intimidators managed just one run on four hits. The run came courtesy of a solo home run from Mark
Fleisher in the sixth inning. The home was Fleisher’s ninth of the season. Sergio Morales had two of the three
other hits. Christian Marrero had the final base knock for the Intimidators.
Marrero’s single came with two outs in the ninth to start a rally. After Marrero singled, Brent Morel walked to
place runners at first and second in the ninth inning but RiverDogs’ closer Jonathan Ortiz got out of the inning
by striking out John Curtis to end it.
Charleston’s Dellin Betances gets the win (5-3) with six shutout innings while striking out five. Charlie Shirek
is the tough-luck loser for Kannapolis (3-5) with 5.1 innings giving up three runs on ten hits. Ortiz earns his
third save of the series with a scoreless ninth inning. It’s the 26th save of the season for Ortiz.
The Intimidators welcome in the Savannah Sand Gnats (New York Mets affiliate) to open up a four-game series
starting tomorrow with first pitch set for 5:05pm.
