Altoona Curve Edge Harrisburg Senators 4-3 - AA, Eastern League

ALTOONA - Brad Corley’s book-rule double over the right field wall propelled the Altoona Curve to an exciting 4-3 win in 10 innings against the Harrisburg Senators at Blair County Ballpark on Sunday night.

Miguel Perez led off the inning with a base hit and scored the game-winner that propelled the Curve to even the four game series at two games apiece.

The Curve (43-56) had a 1-0 lead through four innings thanks to an Anthony Webster RBI double that scored Melvin Dorta.

Harrisburg drew even in the top of the fourth with an RBI groundout off starter Kyle Bloom.  Bloom pitched 4 2/3 innings and struck out five batters.

Harrisburg (56-43) took a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh inning, and the way Senator’s starter Jordan Zimmermann was throwing; it looked as if the Curve were headed for their third straight loss.  Altoona would not quit, plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Pinch-hitter Jason Bowers smacked a single into right field that scored Jason Delaney along with Angel Gonzalez, who in his Double-A debut hustled all the way from first base to score on the Bowers single.

Juan Mateo allowed a run in the top of the eighth to give the Senators to tie the contest, 3-3.  Matt Rogelstad’s RBI double drew the Senators even before Corley’s heroics in the tenth inning.

Dave Davidson (3-2) tossed 2/3 innings off scoreless relief to get the win, while Tim Bittner (1-3) was charged with the loss.

Altoona will open a five-game series against the Akron Aeros on Monday night at 5:35 p.m. in game one of a double-header. Josh Hill (4-11, 5.17) will make the start for Altoona in the first game while Brian Holliday (0-1, 12.27) will make his second start of the season for the Curve.
