Frisco RoughRiders Defeat Corpus Christi Hooks 4-2 - AA, Texas League
Monday, July 21, 2008 at 04:06PM The RoughRiders improved to 19-10 in the second half of Texas League play. The Hooks are 11-18.
Jose Vallejo reached on a two-out infield hit before Harrison’s 17th round-tripper of the season.
Steve Murphy’s 15th home run of 2008, a solo shot an inning earlier, gave Frisco a 2-0 lead. Consecutive doubles by Elvis Andrus and Vallejo provided the visitors with a 1-0 first-inning advantage.
Corpus Christi starter Polin Trinidad (3-4) went seven innings and did not walk a batter. He struck out six.
Alfredo Gonzalez (5-1), the second of four RoughRider pitchers, was credited with the victory. Gonzalez allowed four hits, an earned run, a walk and struck out one over 2 1/3 innings. Frisco starter Thomas Diamond was lifted after four frames, two hits, two walks and five strikeouts. Andrew Laughter pitched a scoreless ninth for his seventh save.
Billy Hart hit his fifth home run of the season in the fifth to cut Frisco’s lead to 2-1. He scored the other Hooks run two innings later on Jarred Ball’s groundout.
