Idaho Falls Chukars Defeat Missoula Osprey 10-6 - Rookie SS, Pioneer League

Idaho Falls - Seventeen hits by the Idaho Falls Chukars offense was the driving force in a 10-6 victory over the Missoula Osprey Sunday. This is the first time this season the Chukars have won consecutive games at Melaleuca Field.

A trio of Chukars had three hits, and Shawn Griffin finished with four. Griffin ripped a double and scored two runs. The left side of the Chukars infield produced at the plate in a big way with Antonio Jimenez going 3-4 and J.D. Alfaro finishing 3-5. Alfaro hit a double and home run, and finished with two runs scored and four runs batted in. Sean McCauley was the other I.F. player to record three hits, and he also drove in three runs. Patrick Norris and Fernando Garcia, at the top and bottom of the Chukars order, both hit a triple in the Chukars win.

In his first start with the Chukars, Brandon Sisk pitched four innings and allowed no earned runs. Sisk consistently got ahead of batters, but while he was on the mound Osprey seemed to find a way on base. He walked two and gave up four hits, but he was able to strand most of them. After facing five batters without recording an out, reliever Steve Gilgenbach, who came in after Sisk, was replaced by Orlando Rada. Rada went on to get his first win of the season after holding the Chukars’ lead for two and two thirds innings.

The scoring for the Chukars was steady throughout the afternoon game. After taking a 3-1 lead one inning in, the Chukars scored in four other innings. In the fourth, sixth, and eighth innings Idaho Falls scored two runs.
