Lancaster JetHawks Pound High Desert Mavericks 13-1 - Advanced A, California League

LANCASTER, CA – The JetHawks continued to pepper the parking lot beyond the left field wall in Adelanto Sunday evening.  For the second straight day, Lancaster hit five home runs.  That combined with strong pitching from Blake Maxwell as Lancaster earned their sixth straight win, pounding the High Desert Mavericks 13-1.

The steady succession of long balls put the JetHawks well out in front early.  For the second straight game, Luis Exposito got things started with a second inning solo shot.  Also for the second straight day, the JetHawks went back-to-back as Daniel Nava and Jon Still hit consecutive homers in the third inning. Nava’s second home run of the game was a grand slam to put Lancaster ahead 7-0 in the fourth.

That was more than enough for the JetHawks pitching staff.  Blake Maxwell went six innings for the first time in his career, allowing just one run on five hits to earn his third win (3-4).  Bryce Cox and Josh Papelbon held the Mavericks scoreless over the final three innings.

Nava’s five RBI are a career high.  Aaron Reza added a three-run homer giving him two hits and matching his career best with four runs driven in.  Zak Farkes continued his hot hitting with three hits.  Still, Mike Jones, and Exposito each had two hits.
