Mobile BayBears Shut Out Chattanooga Lookouts 7-0 - AA, Southern League

MOBILE, Ala. – With Brooks Brown on the mound against a pitcher making his Southern League debut, the match-up favored the BayBears from the get-go, but it turned out even more lopsided than it seemed on paper with the BayBears scoring a 7-0 victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts at Hank Aaron Stadium to claim the rubber game of their five-game series.

Brown (6-10) was solid over six innings as he limited Chattanooga (50-50, 13-17) to five hits while fanning four, lowering his ERA in the process to 3.54. Brown was sported to an early lead as Guillermo Reyes tripled in the first against Lookouts starter Misael DeJesus (0-1), who ended up uncorking a wild pitch to bring home Reyes.

In the third, the BayBears (42-57, 13-16) blew the game open with Gerardo Parra singling home Brown, and then Yunesky Sanchez stole home while Parra was swiping second to make it 3-0. Cyle Hankerd provided the big blow with a three-run monster shot to left field, pushing the BayBears up 6-0.

Another run was added in the fifth as Bryan Byrne doubled in Parra, giving the BayBears plenty of security to hang on to the lead. Jason Urquidez and Abe Woody worked three frames out of the pen to keep the shutout in tact for the BayBears.
