MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com -

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Altoona , PA – The Harrisburg Senators lit up the scoreboard in a 12-2 Independence Day triumph over the Altoona Curve, Friday at Blair County Ballpark. New additions Bill Rhinehart, Leonard Davis and Edgardo Baez combined to go 8-for-14 with four RBIs and six runs scored. RHP Jordan Zimmermann fired seven strong innings and came up with a key two-run double to help his own cause.

It didn’t look good early as the Curve took an early 2-0 lead against Zimmermann. Brad Corley ripped a two-out single to right to score former Senator Melvin Dorta. Corley stole second and scored on Jason Delaney’s RBI single to make it a two-run lead.

It was all Senators the rest of the way as Zimmermann settled in from there, holding the Curve scoreless for the remainder of his seven innings.

The Senators cut the deficit in half in the top of the 2nd. Rhinehart was hit by a pitch and Baez singled to start the inning. After a walk loaded the bases, Javi Herrera hit a sacrifice fly to plate Rhinehart.

It stayed a 2-1 game until the top of the 6th inning. Altoona reliever Jeffrey Sues came into the game and was greeted by Davis, who smashed his second home run in a week to tie the game at 2-2. Rhinehart walked and scored two batters later when Garrett Guzman doubled to make it 3-2 Harrisburg . Herrera walked to chase Sues from the game. After a strikeout, Zimmermann came up with a two-out, two-run double to give the Senators a 5-2 advantage.

Harrisburg tacked on three more in the 7th. Rhinehart lined a one-out single to center and went to second when Baez walked. Guzman’s RBI single made it a 6-2 game and put runners at the corners. A wild pitch plated Baez. Seth Bynum stroked an RBI single to balloon the lead to 8-2.

In the 8th, Herrera was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score another run and make it 9-2.

Davis ripped an RBI single in the top of the 9th. Rhinehart followed by clubbing an RBI double to expand the margin to 11-2. Baez’s single plated another run to make it 12-2.

Zimmermann picked up the win to move to 3-2 on the season. Sues took the loss to fall to 3-1.

The Senators improved to 47-38. The Baysox dropped to 48-39.

The Senators and Curve continue the series Saturday at 7:05 PM. Harrisburg RHP Adrian Alaniz (0-1, 4.50 ERA) takes on Altoona RHP Luis Munoz (1-2, 7.11 ERA).
