Louisville Bats Defeat Indianapolis Indians 4-2 - AAA, International League

INDIANAPOLIS -- Left fielder Michael Griffin snapped a tie game by hammering a two-run double to center in the top of the ninth and Louisville hung on for a 4-2 win over Indianapolis before a sellout crowd of 15,123 Friday night at Victory Field.

The Bats improve to 50-39 overall and 25-19 on the road, while the Indians fall to 41-48 on the season and 21-22 at home.  Louisville has now won nine of the first 15 meetings in this year's head-to-head series.

Griffin's only hit of the night, which tipped off the center fielder's glove near the warning track, brought CF B.J. Szymanski and PH Kevin Barker to the dish after both drew free passes.  Szymanski was plunked with one out, while Barker was intentionally passed with two down.

Griffin's big base knock also completed the Bats' four-run rally over the final three frames.

C Ryan Hanigan and 3B Luis Boliver smashed doubles in Louisville's two-run seventh, while Barker recorded an RBI single to tie the contest at two.

Griffin (1-for-4, 2 RBI) registered Louisville's only multi-RBI performance, while none of his teammates collected more than one run or more than one hit.

The Indians plated both of their runs in the third when 1B Craig Wilson crushed a homer to left.  Wilson's 10th long ball of the campaign came after 3B Neil Walker roped a two-out single to right.

Wilson (1-for-4, 1 R, 2 RBI) posted the Tribe's only multi-RBI performance, while Indianapolis 2B Josh Wilson (2-for-2) notched the only multi-hit effort for either team.

Bats LHP Tyler Pelland (2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 SO) improved to 1-2 with the win, while RHP Matt Belisle (1.0 IP) picked up his first save of the year.

Indians RHP Matt Miller (1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO) fell to 4-5 with the loss.

Neither starter -- Louisville LHP Matt Maloney (5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 SO) or Indianapolis LHP Corey Hamman (6.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO) -- figured in the decision.

The teams wrap up their six-game set at Louisville Slugger Field on Saturday at 6:15 p.m.  LHP Adam Pettyjohn is scheduled to start for the Bats, while the Indians have yet to announce a starter.
