Grand Prairie AirHogs Win Sixth in a Row with 3-1 Victory over Pensacola Pelicans

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Grand Prairie, TX (07.05.08) -  Scott Drucker hurled seven quality innings for the Grand Prairie AirHogs as they clinched their sixth series victory in a row, winning 3-1 over the Pensacola Pelicans on Saturday evening.
Drucker (5-3) notched the victory for the AirHogs. He allowed just one run on six hits with five strikeouts and two walks. James Morrison recorded his 10th save, pitching a one-two-three top of the ninth.
Grand Prairie got on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Aaron Garza reached on a walk and would make it to third. He was brought home on a sacrifice fly by Edwin Maldonado to right field to give the AirHogs the 1-0 advantage.
David Espinosa cranked  his sixth homer of the season to left field off the top railing, giving Grand Prairie the 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
Pensacola cut their deficit to 2-1 in the top of the sixth inning. Brandon Sing launched a line drive down the third base line all the way to the wall, plating Francisco Leandro from second base. Sing would be given the green light to come home on a single to right field off the bat of Evan Conley. However, Derek Nicholoson retired him by rifling a bullet to J.B. Tucker at the plate, beating Sing by two steps.
The AirHogs extended their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh. Brandon Carter  made it to first base on a fielding error by the shortstop Dallas Christison. Billy Munoz brought him home on an RBI double over the head of the left fielder Matt Pali.
Dan Smith (0-1) was the losing hurler for Pensacola. He went six solid innings and gave up two runs off of four hits with five walks and eight K’s.
