Jacksonville Suns Use a 14-Hit Attack to Defeat Mobile BayBears 7-4

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com -

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - MOBILE, Ala. – A 14-hit explosion by the Jacksonville Suns preceded a third straight night of fireworks at Hank Aaron Stadium as the BayBears’ four-game home winning streak was snapped in a 7-4 loss.
Shane Justis, Ivan DeJesus and Jamie Hoffman batted 1-2-3 in the Jacksonville (42-46, 9-9) lineup and combined for 10 hits with three runs scored and two RBI. Justis was also on the back end of a double steal which brought home the game’s first run.

Bryan Byrne quickly got the BayBears (36-52, 7-11) on the board with his dinger in the bottom of the first to tie the score. Jacksonville tallied single runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings, but it was another tater, this time a three-run shot by John Hester that evened the score once again at 4-4 in the last of the sixth.
With two out and two on in the top of the seventh, Juan Gonzalez put the Suns ahead to stay with a two-run double off reliever Cody Evans (2-5). Tony Barnette started for the BayBears and lasted just four innings while allowing two earned runs on five hits. James McDonald got the ball for Jacksonville and became the first pitcher in the league to reach 100 strikeouts as he punched out seven over 5.1 innings.
Matt Green (1-0, 2.25) will make his first start in three months on Sunday at 6:05 p.m. as the BayBears look for their second victory of the four-game set against the Suns.
