Vancouver Canadiens Snap Two-Game Losing Streak With 10-7 Win Over Boise Hawks

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Boise, ID - The Vancouver Canadians put 10 runs up on the board Sunday night and still had to cross their fingers as the C's weathered a late rally to beat the Boise Hawks 10-7.
The C's opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd inning when SS Jason Christian hit a double down the third base line past a sprawling Josh Vitters scoring DH Mike Lissman from second giving the C's a 1-0 lead. Lissman had doubled to lead off the 2nd.
The Hawks responded in the bottom of the 2nd inning as 1B Rebel Ridling hit his 4th home run of the season for Boise tying the game at 1-1.
The Canadians busted out in the top of the 3rd as Vancouver managed three runs including any RBI single from C Dante Love that gave the C's a 4-1 lead.
Vancouver tacked on a run in the top of the 4th inning when CF Jareck West tripled with one out and was cashed in on a sac fly from 2B Marco Luis giving the C's a 5-1 lead.
The Canadians offense got two more runs in the top of the 6th inning as LF David Thomas hit a sac fly to center field scoring RF Jeremy Barfield who doubled earlier in the inning and advanced to 3rd on a fielder's choice. Vancouver's 2B Marco Luis then singled to centerfield allowing SS Francisco Tirado to score before Luis was caught trying to stretch a single into a double. The C's went to the bottom of the 6th up 7-1.
The Hawks cut into the C's lead in the bottom of the 7th when DH Ryan Keely hit any RBI single off of RHP Chad Lee to right scoring 2B Jake Opitz making it 7-2. Lee then loaded the bases and C's Manager Rick Magnante went to the bullpen and put in RHP Michael Hart who got Marwin Gonzalez to hit into a double play, conceding the run from 3rd making it 7-3. The C's got a run back in the top of the 8th inning when CF Jareck West hit his second triple of the game to right field scoring SS Jason Christian giving Vancouver an 8-3 lead.
The Hawks didn't go out without a fight as LF Kurt Calvert hit a solo home run to right field off of Michael Hart in the bottom of the 8th cutting the Vancouver lead to 8-4.
Vancouver picked up two more runs in the top of the 9th as C Dante Love doubled to center scoring DH Mike Lissman all the way from first base giving the C's a 9-4 lead. RF Jeremy Barfield then singled to center scoring Love extending the C's lead to 10-4.
The Hawks would not go away in the bottom of the 9th as trailing by six, the C's bullpen just couldn't stop the Boise rally as the Hawks scored three runs off of RHP Edgar Tejeda and LHP Ben Hornbeck and had the winning run come to the plate as 3B Josh Vitters grounded out to the third C's pitcher of the inning LHP Fabian Gomez to close out the game.
With the win, the C's move to 8-12 (.400) on the season good enough for a share of second place along with Everett who lost Sunday night against Yakima. The C's remain three games back of Salem-Keizer who won Sunday maintaining their three game margin on the NWL West division.
