Lakewood BlueClaws Complete Another Rally Against the Augusta GreenJackets, 6-4

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Lakewood, NJ – The Augusta GreenJackets (41-28, 14-5) could not hold off the Lakewood BlueClaws (38-32, 11-8) for a second consecutive night as Lakewood rallied back for a 6-4 win Tuesday night.  The BlueClaws plated three runs in the seventh inning after an error by left-fielder Taylor Creswell and David Mixon suffered the loss and the blown save. 
 
Augusta took a 4-3 lead into the seventh inning and with one out and runner on second base Joel Naughton hit a routine fly to left field and Creswell had it kick out of his glove for an error allowing the tying run to score.  Mixon was able to get the next batter to strike out then Tim Kennely followed with a two-out, two-run homer to give the BlueClaws the 6-4 lead.
 
Mixon (0-1) allowed three unearned runs, one hit and struck out one in two thirds of an inning as he suffered his first blown save of the season.
 
The GreenJackets had leads of 1-0 and 4-1 in the game but could not keep the lead.  Augusta took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a two-out RBI single from Angel Villalona.

Lakewood came back in the bottom of the first inning with a two-out solo homer from Dominic Brown to even up the game.
 
Augusta reclaimed the lead in the second inning when James Simmons scored from third on a wild pitch for a 2-1 lead. 
 
The GreenJackets pushed the lead to 4-1 scoring twice in the fourth inning on back-to-back RBI hits from Simmons and Creswell.  Simmons connected for an RBI double then Creswell followed with an RBI single.
 
Lakewood pulled to within one in the sixth inning getting an RBI single from Brown and a two-out RBI double from Mike Durant. 
 
Starter Oliver Odle got the no-decision for Augusta allowing three runs on seven hits over six innings of work.  Odle walked one and struck out four. 
 
The GreenJackets and BlueClaws continue their series Wednesday morning with Augusta sending right-hander Daryl Maday (7-4, 1.47) to the mound.  Lakewood counters with right-hander Walter Tejeda (4-4, 4.12).  First pitch is at 11:05 a.m.
 
                                                                                                                   
Game Notes:                                       
 
The GreenJackets remain a half game up in the Southern Division.
 
The GreenJackets matched a season high with five stolen bases in the game.  Nick Noonan, James Simmons and Skyler Stromsmoe each had one while Taylor Creswell had two.
 
Augusta did not have a hit after the RBI single in the fourth inning by Taylor Creswell.
 
Lakewood pitching retired 10 straight batters between the fifth and eighth innings.
