Richmond Braves and Pawtucket Red Sox Split Doublheader - Game 2 Box and Play-by-Play

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com –Richmond, VA – The Richmond Braves split a doubleheader with the Pawtucket Red Sox Tuesday at The Diamond.  The Braves won the opener 7-6 and the Red Sox took the nightcap 6-1.

The Braves struck for three runs in the opener.  Barbaro Canizares doubled a run in.  Diory Hernandez and Carl Loadenthal produced runs with singles.  Chris Carter smashed a home run in the second to trim the Braves lead to 3-1.  The Braves bumped their lead to 4-1 in the home half on an RBI single by Scott Thorman.  Dusty Brown cracked a two run homer in the Red Sox fourth.  The Sox tied the game in the fifth on an RBI double by Jed Lowrie.  Richmond claimed a 6-4 lead in the sixth on a two-run single by Derrick Arnold.  The Sox tied the game again in the seventh on a two-run homer by Jonathan Van Every.  The Braves won the game in the seventh when Scott Thorman scored on a wild pitch.

Jonathan Rouwenhorst picked up the win.  Lincoln Holdzkom took the loss.  Loadenthal and Hernandez had three hits each for the Braves.  Van Every had two hits for the Red Sox.

In the nightcap, the Red Sox took a 2-0 lead in the third on a Jed Lowrie sacrifice fly and an error that allowed Sean Danielson to score.  The Braves cut the lead to 2-1 in the sixth on a Scott Thorman sacrifice fly. The Red Sox blew the game open in the seventh, sending eight men to the plate to score four runs.  George Kottaras singled two home and Bobby Kielty doubled two in.

Charlie Zink pitched his second straight complete game to earn the win.  Brian Lawrence took the loss.  Reid Gorecki had two hits for the Braves.  Kottaras and Danielson had two hits each for Pawtucket.
