Sacramento River Cats Blank the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in 11-0 Thrashing
Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 12:25PM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com –West Sacramento, Calif. – Sacramento starter Dan Meyer threw a gem, pitching 8.0 shutout innings and allowing just two hits, as the River Cats blew out Colorado Springs 11-0 on Tuesday night at Raley Field. Meyer didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning, never walked a batter and struck out eight hitters in his best start of the season. The Sacramento offense backed Meyer’s performance with 11 runs on 14 hits, punctuated by a seven-run fourth inning that featured a grand slam off the bat of outfielder Danny Putnam. Six different River Cats batters finished with multiple-hit games. Outfielder Joe Gaetti was 3-for-3 with a triple, double, two runs scored and an RBI. In his Sacramento debut after being called up from Double-A Midland on Tuesday, infielder Michael Affronti was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
