MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com -

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Erie, PA - The SeaWolves took down the Harrisburg Senators on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 8-3. Erie won the series from the Senators and the club improved to 14-8 following the all-star break.

The Senators jumped ahead against Erie starter Luis Marte in the top of the second inning. Devin Ivany led off with a double and Garrett Guzman walked to put two on with no outs. Edgardo Baez laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners into scoring position for Marco Yepez. Yepez grounded to first and Ivany scored ahead of the throw from Ryan Roberson to give Harrisburg a 1-0 lead. With one out, Mike Daniel hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Guzman for a 2-0 lead.

The ‘Wolves responded in the bottom of the third inning against Harrisburg starter Adrian Alaniz. Will Rhymes led off and connected on a solo home run, his third, cutting the Sens lead to 2-1. Deik Scram walked and Wilkin Ramirez reached on an error to put two on for Casper Wells. Wells walked to load the bases for Roberson. Roberson singled home Scram, tying the game at 2-2. Jeff Frazier then singled, and on an error by left fielder Marvin Lorance, two runs would score for a 4-2 lead. Later in the inning with two outs, Shawn Roof doubled home Roberson for a 5-2 Erie advantage.

Harrisburg cut the Erie lead down to two runs in the top of the fourth. Lowrance led off with a walk and he was doubled over to third with one out by Guzman. Lowrance scored on a wild pitch with one out to make it a 5-3 game in favor of Erie.

The SeaWolves went back ahead by three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Rhymes and Scram both singled to start the inning. With two outs, Roberson connected on his second RBI single of the game, scoring Rhymes, putting Erie up 6-3.

The ‘Wolves would go ahead by five runs in the bottom of the seventh. With one out, Frazier belted his sixth home run of the season for a 7-3 Erie lead. The home run for Frazier was his first since June 6 at New Hampshire. Santo De Leon, whose 13-game hitting streak came to an end (0-3, BB), walked to put a man on. De Leon would eventually score on a passed ball and an error with Roof at the plate to score the final run of the game, giving Erie an 8-3 lead.

Marte (2-2) picked up his second straight win for the ‘Wolves. He went six innings, allowing three runs on four hits with two walks and a season-high seven strikeouts.

Josh Kite tossed two scoreless and hitless innings of relief in the seventh and eighth and Rudy Darrow threw a scoreless ninth to preserve the win. Marte and Kite did not allow a Harrisburg hit from the fifth through the ninth and the Senators picked up just one hit over the final five innings of the game.

The win improved Erie to 9-9 against the Senators.
