Salt Lake Bees Tally 19 Hits to Defeat Sacramento River Cats 13-10 in PCL Playoffs

West Sacramento, Calif. – Even thousands of banging thundersticks couldn’t quiet the bats of Salt Lake as the Bees tallied 19 hits on their way to a 13-10 win in Game 1 of the Pacific Coast League playoffs on Wednesday night. In front of a festive playoffs crowd of 10,847 at Raley Field, the Bees took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five PCL Pacific Conference Championship Series. The Bees scored seven runs off River Cats’ starter Brad Knox, who allowed 11 hits and a walk in 2.2 innings. The Bees also walked eight times on the night. Salt Lake first baseman Matt Brown had two home runs and drove in four runs, finishing the night 4-for-6 with three runs scored. Reliever David Shafer and Brad Kilby each pitched an inning-and-one-third and allowed three runs respectively. The Sacramento offense did some damage of its own, totaling 14 hits and four walks in the game. Sacramento third baseman Jeff Baisley was 4-for-4 with two home runs, four RBIs and three runs scored. The River Cats play Game 2 of the best-of-five series on Thursday at Raley Field at 7:05 p.m.
