Sacramento River Cats Advance to PCL Finals After Dispatching the Salt Lake Bees

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Salt Lake City, Utah – The Sacramento River Cats defeated the Salt Lake Bees at Franklin Covey Field in Utah on Saturday night, 8-3, to advance to the PCL Championship Series. Once again, Sacramento’s powerful bats paced the team as the team hit three more homers to bring their four-game series total to 16. Infielder Donnie Murphy continued his standout postseason, hitting his fourth homer of the series and bringing his postseason average to .462 (6-for-13). Chris Denorfia added three more hits as well, bringing his series average to a whopping .579 (11-for-19). 21-year old starter Vincent Mazzaro got the win for Sacramento, allowing just two runs in 7.0 innings of work. The River Cats will square off with the winner of the American Conference Championship Series between Oklahoma and Iowa in the PCL Finals, set to begin on Tuesday, September 9 at Raley Field (Oklahoma’s win on Saturday evened the series at two games apiece entering Sunday’s deciding Game Five).
