Louisville Bats Top Pitching Prospect Homer Bailey Shines in Bats 4-1 Win Over Charlotte Knights - International League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - FORT MILL , S.C. – May 29, 2007 – Louisville pitcher Homer Bailey showed why he is the number one prospect in Cincinnati Reds organization Monday night. Bailey (5-1, 1.89) struck out nine Charlotte batters in seven innings as the Bats beat the Knights 4-1. Marcus McBeth (S, 5) got the save.

Charlie Haeger (2-7, 5.97) took the loss for the Knights, going six innings, giving up four runs and struck out eight Louisville batters.

Outfielder Jerry Owens added to his streak of consecutive games of reaching base with 29, going 1-4 with a double on the night. Likewise, teammate Josh Fields is continuing the same streak at 25 games.

The Knights and Bats continue their series on Tuesday. RHP Vladimir Nunez (1-6, 4.93)

gets the start for the Knights. RHP Johnny Cueto (2-4, 3.64) will take the mound for the Bats.
