Florida Everblades Slice Texas Wildcatters 5-2 and Give them 1st Loss - ECHL

MLN Newswire-www.mlntherawfeed.com-Estero, FL (October 21, 2006) The Texas Wildcatters were defeated by the Florida Everblades 5-2 in the second of back to back games at Germain Arena on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 5,841.  Florida’s Jonathan Lehun scored the game winning goal at the 13:39 mark of the second period.  It was a shorthanded tally as Lehun broke in on the right wing side and beat Wildcatters goaltender Matt Yeats.

Florida struck first again for the second straight night as Vince Bellissimo netted his first goal of the year, but the Wildcatters came right back at the 18:01 mark as rookie, Paul Albers scored on the power play.  It was his first professional goal.  Brad Parsons would give the Everblades the lead back on a power play goal with just 42 seconds left in the first period.

The Wildcatters responded after the second period started as Mike Bayrack netted his first goal of the season.  Lehun would follow with the game winner.  Parsons added his second goal of the night and Brent McDonald finished off the scoring with a shorthanded goal, leading to the Everblades 5-2 win.

Everblades goaltender David Shantz got his first start of the season and made 27 saves in the win while Matt Yeats took the loss in his second start in back to back games.  Yeats made 22 saves in the loss. The Wildcatters were 1 for 11 on the power play while the Everblades went 2 for 8.  Florida also added two shorthanded goals.  Jason Beeman and Bill Kinkel dropped the gloves in the first fight of the season for both teams.
