Texas Wildcatters Cool Down Pensacola Ice Pilots Comeback For a 4-3 Win

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com –

PENSACOLA, FLJohn McNabb scored two third period goals and Peter Aubry made some key saves down the stretch to stymie an Ice Pilots comeback as Texas defeated Pensacola 4-3 at the Pensacola Civic Center.

The two teams traded goals on two occasions in the first period as Texas took a 1-0 lead on Danick Bouchard’s third goal in the last two games.  Mike Tuomi answered two minutes later with a great feed from Mike Ullrich to tie things up at one.  Later in the period, Brandon Benedict gave Texas the lead back with his second of the season.  At 18:43 of the first period, Mathieu Roy scored his team leading fourth goal of the year amidst a flurry around the Texas net and the two teams were tied at two after the first period.

After a scoreless second, McNabb struck twice under three minutes apart to give Texas a two goal advantage in the third.  The Ice Pilots fought back as Rob Sich netted his first ECHL goal to cut the lead to one.  Pensacola had several chances in the final two minutes, but time ran out and Texas held on for the 4-3 win.

Shots were even at 32.  Dan Sullivan and Riley Emmerson tangled early in the first period.  The Ice Pilots continue the four game home stand against Columbia on Tuesday night.
