Johnstown Chiefs Defeat Charlotte Checkers 4-2 - ECHL

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Charlotte, NC – Playing the third of a five-game road trip the Johnstown Chiefs beat the Charlotte Checkers 4-2 on Friday night.

The Chiefs didn't show any signs of a hangover after giving up a two goal lead in the third period on Wednesday to Columbia. Kenny Roche scored just 20 seconds into the first period to stake the Chiefs to a 1-0 lead. Jean Desrochers would one-time a power play goal by Charlotte's Matt Zaba at 9:52 of the first, and then Mike Falk tipped in his own rebound with 16 seconds left in the first to establish the Chiefs' 3-0 lead.

The Checkers would replace Zaba in net with Curtis Darling after the first, and he was able to keep the Chiefs off of the board for the second frame.

Mark Lee was able to put two pucks past Ryan Nie in the third period, but an insurance goal by Ryan Garlock allowed for a comfortable two goal victory. Garlock jammed a loose puck past Darling, the only goal he gave up in relief of Zaba.

The Chiefs finished 1-for-6 on the man advantage while holding Charlotte without a power play goal on eight attempts. Nie picked up his seventh win of the season making 19 saves on 21 shots while Zaba took the loss for Charlotte
